This is my favourite book. Never before did I understand the roots of education, but I have a full concept now. Above all books written by man or woman, this one should take precedence. The statement on page 71 that begins, "The eagle of the alps is sometimes beaten down by the tempest into the narrow defiles of the mountains. Storm clouds shut in this might bird fo the forest, their dark masses separating her from the sunny heights where she has made her home. Her efforts to escape seem fruitless. She dashes to and fro, beating the air with her strong wings and waking the mountain echoes with her cries. At length, with a note of triumph, she darts upward, and, piercing the clouds, is once more in the clear sunlight, with the darkness and tempest far beneath. So we may be surrounded with difficulties, discouragement, and darkness. Falsehood, calamity, injustice, shut us in. There are clouds that we cannot dispel. In vain we battle with circumstances. There is but one way of escape. Beyond the clouds God's light is shining. Into the sunlight of his presence we may rise on the wings of faith."

Every aspiring educator, parent or anyone who cares for the youth should read this book. This will surely open you to the real goal of education, and that is bringing your students back to the loving arms of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Read the book and understand education in its deepest and truest form.

Very good book! Education is today a very important issue and parents should pay attention to all that surrounds their children. Many things that we see as good or without imminent danger hide serious and dip problems.Children minds are very sensitive to everything around them and we all should be aware of the influence we have on one another.Read it! You won't be sorry. Is good for those who don't have experience in parenting. And tell me what you think of it!

This was better than I expected. After all, how could a book written in 1903 have any bearing on education in 2016? Shockingly more than I thought. While there's a lot that isn't applicable to today's educational context, White does touch on topics that we now call differentiated instruction, standards-based grading, and the importance of physical education. While I disagree with a lot of what she has to say about literature this wasn't a complete waste of time.

Whoa! I wish I had read this book five years ago! So many more things would have made sense WHILE I was going through them. The range of content covered in this book is remarkable! Topics covered range from the Bible, business, diet & science. Education provides food for the mind, body and soul. Will be re-visiting this book frequently.

Loved this book! Simple, to the point chapters. I loved how they brought the word into every area of life and gave biblical examples on how to learn those areas of education through the word.

Education is by far one of the best books by Ellen White that I have read up to this point. Of course, I have not read very many of her books, and I read them very slowly so as to better understand. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed this book. Her lessons were very well illustrated and biblically-based, and I gained a lot of knowledge from this book. Part of it talks about the Bible as an educator, and another part talks about education in the home.
