Availability: Ready to download

Gran Sonnevi is one of Sweden's most celebrated, respected, and prolific poets. For this first book-length selection of Sonnevi to appear in English, Rika Lesser has chosen works written between 1971 and 1989--although most of the poems come from the last decade and from Sonnevi's last three books, which form part of the single ondlig [unending/infinite/interminable] poe Gran Sonnevi is one of Sweden's most celebrated, respected, and prolific poets. I went to the Dodge Poetry Festival in 2000 as part of a college trip for my poetry class. It was rainy and miserable and full of people who say "Aaaaaaah" after a poem is read, but I did see Goran Sonnevi read and he sounded like an amazing robot, due to his Swedish accent. So I bought this collection of his poetry. And... I just read it this weekend! It is best when read very slowly. Themes include: annihiliation, power, flowers, rock clefts.
