I was concerned about getting this after not liking Alice’s Story, but this was actually fantastic. Deftly guiding you across this new cast of characters with literally fantastical art brings this series to life in a very exciting way. That moon spell. Wow.

I have zero idea about Grossman's universe, didn't know that the books existed up until now, but this comic looks promising. Maybe I'll check the first book sometime.

The character design change for Dean Fogg is confusing, assuming the graphic novels follow the show instead of the books. I like seeing the hedges included in Brakebills. I might check this out in Trade sometime, but this issue didn't grasp me.

This is a good start to what should be an interesting class at Brakebills. There's not really enough here in the first issue to do more than say it has promise.

Y'all. Y'all. Y'allll! If you are a fan of the Magicians, you need to dive into this new series. Yes, it does not have the characters we know and have grown to love. However, what the masterpiece that is given instead leaves me with so many burning questions. The basic premise starts after our lovely cohort has graduated from Brakebills. Dean Fogg has the bright idea to offer hedge witches admission to the classically traditionalist school. You said what?! That's right, Hedge Witches. You know I Y'all. Y'all. Y'allll! You know I am all for two houses divided in one and the drama bound to ensue. I can't tell you what happens, but I am already loving how these two groups have collided. And the illustrations are radiant! Kudos to Pius Bak!
