What usually happens is that they fall in love despite themselves…” Maggie lives in a world of aliens, dragons, cowboys, and Happily Ever Afters. As a (slightly—maybe more than slightly) pornographic romance novelist, she’s able to escape everything in He stared at me. “You wrote that? I want to know what happens. As a (slightly—maybe more than slightly) pornographic romance novelist, she’s able to escape everything in her writing. Almost everything, even though her life before coming to northern Michigan will not let her go, no matter how far, or how fast she’s running from it. Mostly, she's too busy hiding from the world to meet people, and certainly she isn't looking for anyone to sweep her off her feet like one of the stern cowboys or hard-bodied aliens in her books. But then, suddenly, there's Mason, who's sweet, and funny, and damn, is he handsome—and they end up taking a trip together that will change both their lives. For everyone who remembers Mason Whitaker from THE CHECKDOWN, here's his story!

Wow. Another great one. So I really enjoyed this book. I will say that I read the summary a few times and kept thinking it sounded a little fluffy for my taste - that she is a writer and he likes her stories and then...go! But why don’t I TRUST!? That wasn’t it all. Yeah sure that happened, but it was such a small part of this story. Yes, this hero was probably the nicest and most easy going of all Bennett’s heroes so far, but that is where the fluff stops. This girl (Maggie) has a major Wow. Another great one. Yes, this hero was probably the nicest and most easy going of all Bennett’s heroes so far, but that is where the fluff stops. This girl (Maggie) has a major backstory and that is really the push that moves the plot. She really keeps some heavy secrets and there is actually an edge of mystery/crime/suspense involved. I love love love how this author builds a tale.

This book is a 4 1/2 star for me because it took me a little while to get into the grove of it, but once it did pull me in, I really loved it. I liked both of our main characters from the start. Maggie was a bit of a mystery for much of the book, but she was always likable and caring. Mason (the nice boy Katie dated from the Checkdown) was also a very likable man. I felt like they complimented each other from the beginning of the book and I loved the way that their relationship developed. Mr Joyce was a hoot, and Anya from (Lost to Light) appeared again, showing remarkable depth for someone so shallow. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance.

I enjoyed the road trip with Maggie and Mason in Sweet, Tart. I liked their romance. I also liked how Maggie developed friendships and learned how to accept friendships.
