It's a good cookbook, with a photo of almost every recipe, targeted to girls. Boys only appear in two sections -- 4th of July and Halloween. Trying to get my boys interested in cooking, and they won't even pick this up. Thinking about buying it for my niece (better than the pink princess cookbooks, anyway) but unsure. Why do girl cookbooks have to be so pinky cute and boys cookbooks have to be so gross-out? Still, Williams-Sonoma cookbooks look amazing...think I'll keep searching their books to It's a good cookbook, with a photo of almost every recipe, targeted to girls. My 7 year old daughter loves American Girls/Wellie Wishers, parties, and cooking. She has a big sweet tooth and keeps gravitating towards cookbooks on cupcakes and cake pops, so it is with welcome relief that we found this cookbook. It satisfies her desire for cupcakes with my desire for balancing sweets and savories. My daughter LOVES this book. She will even read it at bedtime. It satisfies her desire for cupcakes with my desire for balancing sweets and savories. My daughter LOVES this book. She will even read it at bedtime. This cookbook features menus, decorating, and craft ideas for 8 celebrations throughout the year, A Sweetheart Party, Garden Tea Party, Springtime Celebration, Shining Stars BBQ, Wake Up to Waffles (slumber party), Birthdays & Burgers, Spooky & Berry Delicious, and Winter Holiday Cookie Party. Each "celebration" has between four to six recipes, along with craft and decorating ideas. Most of the time there is a festive beverage, one to two savory, "main" dishes, sometimes a side, and always a dessert. Or two. Except for the winter holiday cookie party which is all cookies. This is definitely a book catering towards girls, and parties, and prettiness, as it is titled, but if you want a cookbook for boys (or gender neutral), I highly recommend Complete Junior Chef, and The Complete Cookbook for Young Chefs, which my older boys love. I've got my eye on two others in this line for my daughter, including Garden to Table, and Around the World.

Good book for tweens and planning kids parties. Some good recipes, too.
