I'd never read anything by this author before, but I'm sad to say I won't be doing so again! This book was so boring! I couldn't connect with the characters, the suspense plot felt weak, and it seemed to be crammed with unnecessary words! I hated the dual point of view that the book had, and it seemed like Brian and Jo used sex to solve their problems more so than actually using their brains! Maybe it's just me, as others really seemed to enjoy this, but I really didn't.

First time reading this author. It was a great story, Hot and sexy. The only problem I had with it was she explained too much of the firefighting logistics and not enough of the people in the story. I hope her next book is better with the people part of the story. I'd like to know how the guys took the news of their mother and the Chief being in love. A little more interaction of the guys at the station would be nice too.

This is amazingly well written for a debut fiction novel. I honestly had no idea this was Amy's first novel, and after enjoying it so much went looking to see what else she had written. It explored two of my favorite contemporary romance themes of friends to lovers and brother's best friend. Josephine 'Jo' Meadows is the heroine. She is incredibly strong, sweet, independent and sassy. She is a female firefighter and paramedic and she certainly knows how to put her male colleagues in their place. Brian Cavanaugh is the hero, he is a typical alpha male, but he's also sweet, caring and protective. He is a firefighter who has recently ascended to the job of chief, taking over from Jo's father who recently passed away. I loved the relationship between Jo and her best friend Matt, but also the camaraderie and banter between the rest of the firefighters and paramedics. Jo and Brian have a shared history that is addressed in the book, and share a fairly hot chemistry and attraction. The love scenes between the pair are fairly hot! A completely engaging and enthralling read that captured my attention from the very first chapter. I cannot wait for the next book in this series! I see many more books by Amy Briggs making an appearance on my never ending to be read list.

This debut book is spectacular! The story from this author has so much heart, so much passion that you can feel it as you read. I have never read a fire fighter story and am absolutely in love with this one. Meeting Jo as a fire fighter who has found a family with the boys at the station where her father was the Fire Chief. Brian, the new Fire Chief and long time friend took over the place of her father at the station. He and his brother Matt, who I her best friend, want to bring her back to the place she belongs. Her long time love for Brian might not make this transition easy. Especially when this long time play boy finds something in Jo that he never allowed himself to see before. Passions ignite that could destroy them both, along with everyone at the station if they aren't careful. Her coming back poses certain challenges since Brian will now be her boss. The ever professional in her doesn't want this to ruin her career or his if word gets out. Life can turn when you least expect it, and being in this line of work ups the danger factor. When life hangs in the balance there are things that can come to perspective that are suddenly more important than your stupid hang ups. What will happen with them all and how will they all cope with the loss of the man they loved so much? Read it and find out. I cannot wait for more from this author!!

Jo Meadows is following in her father's footsteps and becoming a firefighter. Devastated by her father's death, Jo is ready to settle down in her father's old station but the new Chief and childhood crush Brian Cavanaugh makes that questionable. But his fear for Jo and secrets that he has about an on going investigation could drive her out of his life and station. I get the feeling that deep down Brian always knew Jo would be his but the danger of their job held him back. Not just the fear of safety for her but his safety as well. That stress could break any relationship. His actions proved he had trouble separating the love he had for the woman and the knowledge that Jo was the job. Jo and Brian have some major chemistry! The heat these two generated, could set off an alarm. Hot and steamy sex, I would expect nothing less from two firefighters. Fired Up was a great start to Amy Biggs's new series The Brotherhood of District 23 and looking forward to the next.

I was extremely impressed with the story. Unfortunately that's not all it takes for a good reading experience and I almost quit reading because the formatting was so hard to read. Editing and formatting is not normally something that bothers me unless it affects my ability to read the story which it did here. My biggest issue was that when they are exchanging texts they made the font size much smaller which I had trouble reading unless I switched the font size back and forth between sentences and it was extremely tedious and annoying. It could be italicized or bold and would be much easier to read. It also has a lot of misused or misplaced words that would be easily fixed. I'm giving it three stars because this is an amazing debut novel and I would never insult the author by giving it less. I wish I could give it more than that but I had a hard time reading the story because of the listed issues. If she does an update I would gladly give it a better review. Note: If the author is reading this I hope you don't take it personally. I hope you know how good the story is and fix the other issues so I can read and enjoy your work.

They either hit the mark or they don't. This one went way beyond my mark. I loved Jo. She's smart, independent and sassy. And she definitely hold her own in a job dominated by men. You could tell how much she loved her father (before he passed) and her adopted firefighter family. I loved her relationship with her best friend. I also loved watching her and Brian's relationship develop. I also loved Brian. I thought he was sweet, caring and protective. And even though he seemed to be slow with realizing he's feelings with Jo. You could tell how much he liked it. I think as a debut author with this book Mrs. Briggs hit this one out of the park. This book definitely didn't feel like it was coming from a new author. I also loved how Mrs. Briggs brought to life the firefighter brotherhood. This book brought everything I loved in a book, plus some hot hot heat (in more ways than one). I'm giving this book 4.5 stars out of 5 and can't wait for more!!!! ***I received an arc of this book for my honest review***

Brian was the Deputy Chief to Jo's father and is now acting Chief. After finally making her move on Brian and having it go down in flames she moves on. Now a year later she's burying her father and Brian is realizing the error of his ways. Can he prove to her that he's done sowing his oats and ready to be the man she deserves or did he lose his one chance at the one woman he wants? Firemen, easy pick for me. The story flowed and I enjoyed the primary and secondary characters. Briggs made me want to strangle and slap certain characters just as much as the actual character doing it. It was refreshing to read a strong woman character who works with males and isn't the stereotypical bitch or butch. Jo is a tomboy that I think many women will be able to relate to.

Brian and Jo's story was a fairy-tale HEA. When you have a crush practically your whole life you hope that one day it will all come true. Fantastic read! This was a solid debut from Amy Briggs. Fired Up was so well written, and the captivating backstory pulls you right in. The characters were well developed, and you'll find yourself falling in love with Jo and Brian from page one. Their story is super hot and full of emotion. When I say hot, I mean the chemistry between Jo and Brian, it smolders and burns white hot. “I’ve always been in love with love.” I really enjoyed this story. It ended up leaning a bit more towards romance than the thriller side of things than I thought it would, but that in no way lessens its enjoy-ability. The only thing I would say I had any sort of noticeable issue with was that the big “twist”, per se, wasn’t unforeseen. Now, I don’t know if that was intentional or not, but if not, certain aspects weren’t as big of a surprise as they could have been. Brian is a possessive alpha male, who is unsure of his feelings for Josephine and his feelings on having a relationship. Once he figures it out he is 100% about being with her. Josephine has been burned before and isn’t so keen on jumping in to anything. She fights against what she truly wants. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. Some scenes were predictable, while others seemed choppy and out of place in terms of the storyline. The sex scenes were pretty steamy and hot (wink wink...get it? Hot? Cuz it's called Fired Up?), yet I didn't feel invested in the characters enough for me to love it. I'd probably still give the next book in the series a chance. 3 stars

I loved the idea of the story, and I liked the hero and heroine. The fact that the heroine wasn’t some sort of supermodel was so refreshing. This was very disappointing for me. I didn't like the writing style and the language very basic and lots of repetition. The storyline was thin and the element of tension introduced to excite was underwhelming. I found the main characters quite annoying and couldn't engage and the relationship didn't flow to me. However the sex was pretty hot but I'm afraid I won't be tempted to read any more by Amy Briggs

This is a 5 star storyline. Great characters. Believable story. I enjoyed the relationships/dynamics. For flow, I give 3 stars. Was distracting to me that a character spoke in past & present tense in same sentence. This happened throughout the book. This didn't cause me to quit reading or to not enjoy the overall story. Because I have read newer books by Author Amy Briggs, I know her writing improves and I'll continue to read her works! I'm looking now to see if Matt gets his story! This is a 5 star storyline. 3.5 stars. Contains spoilers. I liked the firefighter/ emt info but some of it read too much like a textbook, I didn’t really care for the Gaelic word thrown in (he’s born and raised in FL, but it was like the author pretends he’s really Irish to ass flavor to the book, didn’t work), and the ending was pretty’s abrupt. I would’ve like to see the coworkers reaction and what happened to the douche bag ex boyfriend.

I'm in love I stumbled upon the free download of this series and I'm thrilled I did. As the wife of a paramedic and the mother of a FF/EMT, I absolutely love this book. Amy's first hand knowledge of the fire service makes this book wonderful. I'm a sucker for a good love story and Jo and Brian do not disappoint. Can wait to start the next one

There was unfulfilled potential here, likeable characters that spent a good part of the book assuming what the other was thinking, instead of acting like grownups and actually talking it out. Not a fan of proclamations 3% before the ending either:( Sometimes word choices pulled me out of the story, think I will stop with this one.
