I enjoyed this book alot! I've been a massive fan of Audrey Carlan since I had the opportunity to read the amazing Trinity Trilogy (my favorite) and the Falling series. Once more she has succeeded in taking readers on a magical and exciting journey. Resisting Roots is book one of The Lotus House Series and can be read as a standalone. It is a romantic, sensual, hot and steamy love story. This is the kind of book that makes your heart happy. Genevieve Harper is a twenty-four year-old bombshell I enjoyed this book alot! Once more she has succeeded in taking readers on a magical and exciting journey. Resisting Roots is book one of The Lotus House Series and can be read as a standalone. It is a romantic, sensual, hot and steamy love story. This is the kind of book that makes your heart happy. Genevieve Harper is a twenty-four year-old bombshell yoga instructor with a lot on her plate. Three years ago her parents died in a tragic accident leaving her to raise her two younger siblings Rowan and Mary. She’s working hard to give them food on the table and a roof over their heads. She has bills, responsibilities and doesn’t have time to date or to devote to a man. All she wants is a good and stable life for her and her family. She is a fighter and straight awesome! Trent Fox is a hot, famous and gifted professional baseball player. He has money, talent and all the women he could possibly want. Until one day a torn hamstring takes him to the Lotus House Yoga Center for physical therapy. Genevieve became his personal instructor to help him recover from his injury. Trent is instantly taken with the lovely Vivvie. Something about her makes him wanting to take care of her and for the first time in his life to settle down. He is used to being a player, but when he is near her, he wants more. No one is more shocked than he. But can a player, on and off the field change and aspire for a different life ? The passion and chemistry between the two of them was intense and made for some very hot scenes. One in particular in the private yoga classroom got me hot flashes and I had to fan myself while reading this spectacular descriptive and tasteful erotic scene. Extremely hot!! Both Genevieve and Trent went out looking for a good time and found a hell of a lot more than they’d bargained for. Can love grow between a woman who’s rooted in her life and a man who resists any notion of staying in one place ? I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and change throughout the story and how their lives become intertwined. As always Audrey Carlan’s characters, both primary and secondary are utterly likable and she did a remarkable job of portraying all of them. I also liked the yoga reference at the beginning of each chapter that brings a spiritual dimension to the story. A story about finding roots, and what makes you feel whole in this world. I'm definitely looking forward to Audrey Carlan's next release Sacred Serenity. Namaste!

Resisting Roots by Audrey Carlan ~ 5 Namaste Stars “Be kind to yours, for you only get one in this lifetime.”   WHOA WHOA WHOA! I just finished this book in one sitting.  LOVED IT!!!! Seriously, I could not put this book down.  This is a standalone, contemporary, baseball star and yoga instructor romance.    I completely adore the characters in this book.  Genevieve is a 24-year-old woman who is a beautiful blond bombshell.  She is smart, strong and not easily fooled by the sexy smile of a hot baseball star.  She is a yoga instructor by day and hair dresser working out of her garage by night.  Since her parents’ tragic accident three years prior, Genevieve devoted all her time to taking care of her two siblings, keeping them safe, fed, and a roof over their head.  Genevieve has given up on her dream in order for her sibs to pursue theirs.  She does not have a boyfriend or date, and the closest she got to any sexy time is with her battery operated boyfriend.  Well, that is until Trent Fox barged into her life unannounced and rocked her Zen world.    Trent is a super star on the baseball field and an even bigger star in the bedroom…wink wink .  He is a player, bedding his way through away-games with one woman per city.  His MO is wham, bam, thank you ma’am.  He does not do relationship and hasn’t have girlfriend in 10 years.   The last thing on his mind is settling down.  Unfortunately, a hamstring injury forced him off the field and straight to the Lotus House Yoga Center for recuperation.  That’s where he met the curvy petite blond with candy-coated glossy lips which he nick names gumdrop.  There is something about Genevieve that Trent can’t resist.  He was mesmerized and whipped the first yoga session.  Can love grow between a woman who’s rooted in her life and a man who resists a notion of staying in one place?   I really LOVE this story you guys.  It’s totally different – I haven’t read anything about yoga before and I read A LOT.  On top of a beautiful love story, it was an educational experience for me.  I am ashamed to say I know nothing about Yoga.  I thought it was some type of meditation voodoo.  Geeze, am I in for a rude awakening.  I love the way the author incorporates Yoga positions and chakra teachings at the beginning of each chapters and within the chapters she embeds these teachings and made it part of the story. “The light in me, bows, to the light in you…” “When I am in that place in me, and you are in that place in you…” “We are one.” “Namaste.” The Meladhara Chakra or the root chakra of Trent has been blocked which explained why Trent was flighty, on the go and unsettled. That is until he fell head over heel in love with Genevieve. He can now see the red tones chakra within which finally guided him home.   “Wherever you are is where I want to lay down my roots.” – I mean that’s about the sweetest thing I ever heard said from a man who loves a woman.  Seriously, I learned so much about the beauty and spiritual practice of yoga from this book.    Resisting roots is a love story full of lust and desire between two people where opposites attract. There is something to be said about a well written sex scene.  Let me tell you these love making scenes are super HOT – making my sacral chakra sings with happiness LOL .  But besides that, this story also teaches us about the values of family, spiritual healing, love, sacrifice, and forgiveness.  I laughed so hard so many times in the book but I also bawled my eyes out reading about the siblings struggling without their parents, making new memories while preserving the memory of their parents. The sacrifice that Genevieve makes for her brother and sister’s future – it is truly touching.  Not to mention Rowan – he is a young teenager but due to circumstance has quickly stepped into the man of the house role to protect his sisters.  I sort of hope the author will give Rowan his own story.  I absolutely adore Audrey Carlan’s writing – it is fantastic full of wicked banters, hot sex scenes, short and descriptive narrative.  The storyline is definitely unique – I really enjoyed the spiritual theme of this book.   “I’ve laid down my roots, and they are there to stay.”   Resisting roots is the first book I read of Audrey Carlan and it left me wanting more – like right NOW.  I highly recommend this book… sweet, sexy, wonderful storyline. I am sort of feeling blissful, all warm and fuzzy inside after I finished. READ IT!!!! I am so looking forward to book two, Sacred Serenity, which will be a love story between Genevieve’s best friend Amber St. James and Dash Alexander.

With history of being a playboy, Genevieve is hesitant to jump into a relationship with Trent while he tries convincing her he wants more. Overall I thought this book was good enough to keep me interested but I'm not sure I would read it multiple times. I got the feeling every so often throughout the book that it could have been more of a textbook on yoga. Granted, in the beginning the author mentioned he background and knowledge with yoga so there was somewhat of a warning I suppose. Some of the terminology was a little bizarre. Trent was made to seem like a badass alpha male, and in some ways he was, but then he'd use words like criminy. There was terminology throughout that didn't seem to fit the characters. Also, there wasn't really any huge climactic moment. Any anticipation that was built up kind of fell flat for me and was just brushed off like no big deal. This book seemed to read like a cheesy Hallmark movie, and while I don't mind Hallmark movies I don't usually watch more than once.

Said hero is hands down an asshole. Reasons are: a) it is clearly communicated that a woman is only noteworthy because she is beautiful and b) disrespect toward repeatedly voiced preferences is okay and c) waste is absolutely legit and only noteworthy in it's economic but not it's ecological value d) he has the audacity to be pissed at the imagination of her having had many men all the whole he's the one having a different sex partner every week??? e) makes her feel like birth control is her responsibility f) doesn't take her wish not to get pregnant into account properly Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Originally, I gave Resisting Roots 4 stars. But after taking a night to ponder the story, I think there are too many errors to try to avoid and that I need to point out. I don't know how they things I noticed were missed because they were not small errors. They were sentence structure and word placement errors, again, not hard to miss. I think there was also just too much going on at one time too. Carlan kept throwing in new plot twists and events that weren't needed to keep our attention, she already had it. Like I said though, it is a really great book. The seduction and romance is there. It's a little bad boy turned good guy for the poor, sweet girl next door. It definitely will keep you on your toes. Plus, the yoga setting is a nice twist on this contemporary romance novel.

I really enjoyed this but it shouldn’t surprise me as I’ve enjoyed the other books by Audrey Carlan that I’ve read. The angst wasn’t very high, which I liked (at the moment) because let’s face it, a girl needs a break from high angst at times. Plus, I REALLY love the yoga aspect of this book/series. It’s very unique and something I’ve become interested in learning within the past year. Looking forward to continuing the series! Genevieve is a good heroine, she is strong and hard-working, she is determined and grounded but life and circumstances had made her keep her heart away, somehow making her a little guarded not believing easily.. she is not ready for any commitment, she feels like she doesn't have time for anything like that, she has so many responsibilities to be just playing around.. The chemistry between Genevieve and Trent was off the chart, you could feel the need and want from Trent whenever Genevive was around. I didn't expect the intensity of the sex scenes and the passion between them. it was a very great surprise. not only Trent was amazing in bed he was a super dirty talker. so many great characters that surround Genevieve and Trent, making this story more enjoyable and great. This is my first book written by Audrey Carlan. it was a pleasant surprise, I like the element of yoga she used as well of the chakras on each chapter making us somehow aware of what is about to happen. great book, and great characters.. looking forward to reading more of Audrey's work..

Resisting Roots is a sensual tale of life, love, and struggle. This book definitely follows along with Audrey's tagline of "Wicked Hot Love Stories". This isn't your usual "wicked hot love story". It has a focus on the art of yoga. In the Note to the Reader, Audrey specifies that the yoga teachings in the book were personally written as a Registered Yoga Teacher. As someone who has never tried yoga, this interested me even more in the book. Genevieve Harper is a yoga instructor at the Lotus Resisting Roots is a sensual tale of life, love, and struggle. Genevieve Harper is a yoga instructor at the Lotus House Yoga Center. She's a stunning blonde who should have had nothing but her dreams to worry about. However, she's responsible for her teenage brother and little sister after the tragic passing of their parents. She works two jobs to ensure that her little family, so she has no time for romance, much less a cocky professional baseball player seeking help with his leg injury. Trent Fox is the quintessential cocky professional baseball player. He is tall, gorgeous, and built like a brickhouse. So, as commonly expected, he's a player in more ways than the sports definition. He has no desire to settle down in one place much less one woman. His focus was on scoring on and off the field. Until he met Genevieve. He needed her help rehabbing his torn hamstring. One of my favorite parts of the beginning is where Trent gives Genevieve a nickname within moments of meeting her for the first time. "I think I'd like that very much, gumdrop." ~ Trent "Gumdrop?" ~Genevieve "Your lips are pretty and pink and look as sweet as candy. Reminds me of a pink sugarcoated cherry gumdrop. My favorite." ~Trent I'm a sucker for nicknames. One of my cousins calls me, "BAM!" because of the size of my butt. I've been called, "Bubbles" by my guys for the same reason. I think it's a sign of a clever mind when a guy puts thought into a nickname for his woman instead of just calling her, "babe" or "honey". Genevieve had no trouble finding Trent attractive, but she had herself firmly rooted in reality. She knew his reputation of "wham, bam, thank you ma'am", and with her responsibilities, she couldn't afford to have Trent be the wrench that throws her life off kilter. Being the sole provider for her brother, sister, Genevieve had to maintain her focus. Though she couldn't deny the level of hotness that Trent exuded, she maintained her professionalism, focused on how he was handling the yoga poses, and gave him credit for doing his best with his limitations. I found this particularly telling about Genevieve's character as a person. While many of us proclaim that we'd have no problem being as professional if we were in her position, I believe that some of us might be lying to ourselves. Sometimes passion and attraction are just too strong to deny. It was a very revealing story of how one resistant woman and one determined man can overcome their obvious differences and live in bliss. One line in particular just made my heart sigh with contentment. It was after Genevieve took Trent through guided meditation and she asked him what color he saw around his body. The color was the chakra that was guiding him. That was "Muladhara Chakra or the root chakra". This prompted my favorite line in the entire book: "It means I'm finally home. Wherever you are is where I want to lay down my roots." ~Trent This story is HOT, HOT, HOT! There are scenes where you're going to have to put the book or device down before it burns your fingers. Audrey Carlan is definitely THE author of "Wicked Hot Love Stories"!

Super sweet and CRAZY sexy! Audrey Carlan is off to a stellar start with the first book in her new Lotus House series! As always, her characters were amazingly endearing with a genuine and relatable mix of perks and flaws. I loved how strong of a heroine Genevieve was and yet maintained her softness. Trent had all the makings for being a complete ass (and was already halfway gone before he met Genevieve) but with her impact on his life, turned out to be a total stand up, swoon worthy hero. It began with the author telling us she was a yoga teacher in real life so her knowledge of yoga was extensive. And it was about a yoga teacher, something I haven't read before, so I was excited to listen. Each chapter began with an explanation of chakras which in audio, just kind of made me zone out. Perhaps those parts would have been better in print because they are easy to jump over, but It felt like I was listening to a yoga textbook at times. But I was intrigued by a yoga story. Trent Fox is a famous baseball player who tore his hamstring and is sent to yoga to rehabilitate. The yoga studio is located in a small area of Berkeley that is all new age shops and all the stores work together. When Trent visits the local stores, he flirts with all the pretty women. Then he gets to his yoga teacher, Genevieve, and then he fixated on her. Genevieve (“Viv”) lost her parents and is raising her siblings in her parent’s house and trying to keep it together. Her teen brother is a baseball player and Trent is his hero, so Trent is invited into her life for him, but she doesn’t have time for romance. She teaches yoga, cuts hair, and has kids to take care of. At first he was kind of a dick about the fact that she couldn’t make time for him, but when he realized the extent of her situation he got better and helped as much as he could. I started thinking he had potential when he gave her a nickname. I LOVE cute nicknames. "I think I'd like that very much, gumdrop." "Gumdrop?" "Your lips are pretty and pink and look as sweet as candy. Reminds me of a pink sugarcoated cherry gumdrop. My favorite." But I am going to be honest here, I never warmed up to Trent and honestly, I thought he was kind of a dick. He flirted with girls in front of her, and it just seemed like he only cared about getting his dick wet, he even said something similar at one point. The way he talked about women in general just skeeved me out, for instance, he often talked about her “big titties” and “juicy pussy”, or “juicy spot between her legs”, and he was an overly jealous ass. But there were some really sweet times where he began to redeem himself, and let me tell you, yoga sex is HOT. There was A LOT of sex in this book, and there was a LOT of yoga. (There was also a lot of forms of the word “tit”). I bet the next book featuring the tantric yoga instructor will be totally hot. But there was definitely a sweet romance as well. “Wherever you are is where I want to lay down my roots.” Likes: •Yoga Sex. •I liked her a lot, and I liked all of the side characters. •I learned a lot about yoga. •Cute nickname. •I really liked his character growth through the book. Dislikes: •I really did not like Trent. He flirted with other women, it seemed like he only wanted her “juicy pussy” and “big rounded titties”, he was jealous, he got mad when she couldn’t make time for him, I can go on… •It was nice to learn a little about yoga, but there was a LOT in this, especially for audio. It kind of felt like a textbook at times. •A little more sex than story. The Narration: The narrators were both fantastic, but I felt that the yoga stuff at the beginning really didn’t lend itself well to narration. I felt myself zoning out during that then having trouble getting back into it. The Down & Dirty: I wanted so much to love Resisting Roots, especially because it is going to be a Passionflix movie. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the story, I loved how unique it was, but I really didn’t like the hero. He seemed like all he wanted was “juicy pussy” and “big titties” and he kind of skeeved me out at times. Other times he was awesome and supportive, but I never got over the initial ‘eew’ from him. I loved the concept of all the yoga, but in audio form, it was way too much for me. Resisting Roots was a super sexy read, with one of the most memorable and unique sex scenes I have ever read, so let me tell you, it may be worth reading just for that, and I bet the next book, Sacred Serenity is even hotter, because I think it’s about the tantric yoga instructor. It’s not just a red hot sexy love story, it’s also about family and commitment, coming to terms with loss and finding the strength to move on and face the future. Loved it! Cant wait for the next book in this exciting new series. Genevieve is 24 years old she’s caring for her two siblings after losing their parents in a tragic accident, three years prior. She works as much as she can to keep the roof over their heads and the bills paid, she’s had to give up on her dreams but is determined her brother and sister won’t give up theirs. By day she’s a yoga instructor and by night she is a hairdresser from her garage. Genevieve hasn’t time for dating and romance in her life. Trent Fox is a hugely successful baseball star, he doesn’t do girlfriends or relationships, he loves them and leaves them, that’s the way he likes it; a player off the field as well as on it. He’s currently out of action after injury and is sent to Lotus House Yoga Centre to start getting himself back in shape or risk losing his contract. It’s where the paths of Trent and Genevieve cross. The chemistry is instant between them, they couldn’t be more different. Trent wants her, but is Genevieve ready for a relationship when she has so much responsibility? She’s knows his track record with women, will she be able to trust him and let him in? Can she help Trent recover from his injuries and get him back in the game before it’s too late? Trent never expected to find her and fall in love but he can’t resist Genevieve, he’s out to prove he can change his ways and be the man she needs. Of course things never run smoothly and they find themselves facing a few hiccups on their journey together.

This book introduces us to Genevieve and Trent. Both have some pretty serious life obstacles they are trying to overcome and the last thing on either of their minds is finding love. Trent wants to get better in order to secure a pretty lucrative contract after a side lining injury. Viv is just trying to make her way in a life she never dreamed of having but wouldn't trade for the world. When they meet the chemistry between them can be felt through the pages (or screen). Can Viv help Trent and still keep her life on track? Can Trent really get better with Viv's help all the while trying to keep emotions in check? Don't miss out on this one folks. The hotness is off the charts. The characters are easily loved. You won't be disappointed.

2.5 Stars I liked the blurb and the beautiful cover so the book was sold for me. The story itself builts on a really good general idea, with the whole injured athleet and yoga instructor theme. I think yoga is the do it not read about it kind of activity, at least not in this much detail. In my opinion the book could have been stronger if its concentrated more ont he relationships between the various caharcters because those were really well created.

And the sex. Yowza. Just yum. As in be warned if you read this story with people nearby. The chemistry between these two were off the charts and smokin' hot enough to melt your e-reader. I cannot wait to Dash and Ambers book! I mean, come on! A tantric yoga teacher? Yeah, baby. Sign me the hell up!

Wow. I couldn't put this book down! First, I knew yoga was a wonderful practice but I didn't grasp the beauty of it until reading this book. It is amazing to me how Audrey took yoga and wicked hot sex and grouped them into a flowing novel. Genevieve and Trent come from two different worlds. Genevieve the beautiful yogi and Trent the baseball player. Two different worlds that are weaved together through injury, love, lust, spirituality, and the desire from two people to make it work despite the Wow. I couldn't put this book down! I laughed and cried multiple times during this book. It holds deep rooted teachings of family values that are lost by so many these days. It holds hope for healing and hope for the future. Let Audrey take you on a journey through her words. You won't regret it.

Review ~~ Resisting Roots Resisting Roots by Audrey Carlan QueenZany 5 STAR REVIEW I'm so happy to have found a great new author!! “Resisting Roots” is a lovely romance story. That had left swooning for more. The story was well written, developed, sexy and steady. I did love the touch of yoga mixed in. Since I'm a yogi at heart. Everything about the book was perfect. Except that Genevieve did bug the crap out of me. Once you get past that the book is everything I needed. Oh. My. Word. Fans of Audrey will not be disappointed with this one. I swear they get better with every book she writes. The story of super hot baseball pro Trent Fox and Genevieve Harper is one to take you on amazing ride, and then some. It is wicked hot (hot hot hot) did I say hot? I was lucky enough to be blessed with an advanced copy and I can truly say it was a read I couldn't put down but wanted to read as slow as possible so it wouldn't be over yet! Loved every single word.

This was an emotional tale full of self discovery and determination. What Vivie thought would be a simple little fling to kill her three year sex drought turns into a full blown relationship with Trent. Be prepared for jealousy, love, tears, and all the complications of finding a new family. This is the first book in a new Audrey Carlan series... and I think it's going to be a good one.

This was a pretty good quick and easy read. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series for an easy read. The main characters are Genevieve and Trent. Trent is a highly regarded sports person until he gets injured and has to attend yoga to help with his physical therapy. The two have very good chemistry and it's a pretty hot romance. Trent and Genevieve will have your heart tied up in knots as they fall head over heels. Genevieve won’t take the credit, but her selfless acts after her parent's passing should qualify her for sainthood. What could a famous baseball god want with a debt-ridden sudo-parent of two. Trent needs to rehab an injury to come back better than he was to quiet the critics. When yoga is suggested he is nothing but sceptic until the class not only kick his butt, but the delectable yogi teaching it strikes his fancy. She seems to be leery of his player rep though and convincing her to give him a shot may take more than his normal tricks, but he got a sneaky suspicion she just might be worth it.

With the baseball player thrown into the yoga setting, this comes up pretty unique and I liked it, though not being into yoga itself. There were somewhat too precise descriptions on it but nothing too dull. I also liked both Trent with his forward nature and Genevieve, being such a fighter and caring for her lovely siblings. I liked some of the surprises thrown in. Even the obligatory "dramatic situation" was ok. Afterwards it went slightly too smooth and ends up slightly too cheesy but it suits With the baseball player thrown into the yoga setting, this comes up pretty unique and I liked it, though not being into yoga itself. Loved this book. My favorite thing about it was that it was almost like the story is about what its like for a single mom trying to date. Genevieve, who is raising her brother and sister, has to put their needs before her own and Trent has to understand that if he wants anything to do with Vivvie, he has to be able to handle all the responsibilities she comes with. 4 Stars! I love the story from the very start I read it. I somehow relate to Viv's situation, I really admire her determination to help her siblings, gave the things they needed. To put her dreams aside to provide for her brother and sister is a little sad but for the future of her siblings, she endure it and that's one of the traits I love about her. And I'm happy how Trent's parents welcome Viv and her siblings as one of their family. 4 Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love the story from the very start I read it. Genevieve is no ordinary girl that’s for sure, she has full custody of her siblings after her parents passed away in a tragic accident. Working two jobs to keep up with all the bills and making sure everyone has what they need. She definitely didn’t have any time for the rich bad boy of baseball Trent Fox and all his groupies.
