It kept me grinning from ear to ear all the way. This is my second book by Julie and it just deepened my love for her writing. This is the first firefighter novel I have read and boy, am I addicted now. This book succeeded in making forget about the world and reeling me in as if I was part of the story. (I could only be so lucky, I mean c'mon: Firefighters!) It's impossible not to relate to the main character, Lizzy (as Ryan likes to call her). Women that see themselves as 'not good enough' and book nerds alike will agree with me. Who doesn't love a book where the characters love to read as much as the reader? Especially when there are book clubs in the equation, I'm in! So, in comes Ryan... My life!! He has a heart of gold worthy of the swooniest swoon and a body worthy of being in covers all around the world. Every woman needs a man like him in their lives. I can't even begin to tell you how much he made me tear up with his beautiful words... and they weren't even directed at me. Thanks a lot, Julie. Now all I can think about is the fact that I don't have a Ryan in my life. I will keep waiting for him though, mark my words. Lizzy's relationship with Ryan is the one I will compare every relationship I come across from now on. Real and fictional, all of them. I absolutely love these two together! The pace their relationship takes is perfect! I've never been in SO MUCH NEED to get my hands on the second book to a series before. I called that epilogue but even then, it didn't take away from the experience of officially reading it!! It was a bombshell but SO SATISFYINGLY UNSATISFYING!!! I need more!! And goddamn I'd be lying if I said I didn't fangirl hard in my room... I'm definitely going to stalk Julie's every move now. AH!! JULIE!! I hope it comes out soon because I'm going insane... I don't even know what day I'm on any more.

I fell in love with the characters immediately but my one question to her was if the heroine was going to cheat on her husband which she assured me was not going to happen. That was a very long time ago and I’ve thought about these characters a lot since then so I was really happy to get an ARC for review so I could finally find out what happened next! It is really hard being in a marriage that doesn’t work; this I know for a fact, so yes Tell Me You Love Me kind of hit home with me. While this is the first book in a new series and we meet a lot of characters I wasn’t overwhelmed, in fact I was completely intrigued by this zany and interesting group of friends and the firefighters they befriend that work at the station in their neighborhood. I loved that the women were part of a book club that met in a spot so they could watch the firefighters do their PT and that the guys became unofficial members of their club. The easy camaraderie between them all, the teasing, and the general affection was easy to see right away and I immediately felt like part of this group. I have no doubt the firefighters of Valley Creek Drive will be heating up book clubs around the world and producing some smokin’ hot book boyfriend fantasies as this series plays out! Lizzy is one of those heroines most women can associate with; fighting her weight and trying not to let her husband’s hurtful words affect her and fighting a losing battle on both fronts. When she meets the new firefighter of the group Ryan, Lizzy feels things she knows she shouldn’t and notices that he doesn’t look at her with revulsion. There is no doubt that Lizzie’s self esteem has taken a hit and she’s not in a good place mentally or physically and she harbors a lot of anger towards her husband so I had to wonder at why she hadn’t made a move to leave; she wasn’t without skills and I came to the realization that she felt trapped and she just needed something or someone to set her free and feeling better about herself was the first step. It is so easy to love a hero like Ryan; one that appreciates everything about a woman not just her dress size. I love that he admired things about Lizzie from the start like how she looked natural, didn’t wear a ton of make-up, let her hair down, and ran her mouth giving as good as she got. He enjoyed her wit and sense of humor as much as he lusted after her luscious curves. Most of all I loved that he didn’t let anyone talk bad about her or her weight including her ass of a husband, the one he didn’t know she had. I really enjoyed watching the easy friendship these two fell into and the fact that the want was there on both sides from the beginning. Both Ryan and Lizzy made mistakes that cost them time they could have been together yet it was time they both needed to understand the feelings they had for one another and the way their former relationships impacted their future. This book spans over a year and while this couple does finally act on their attraction, it is a slow build up and I for one loved that it simmered slowly until the heat engulfed them and then it raged out of control. Pretty damn satisfying! As with any book from this author the secondary characters played a huge role in moving the story forward and by offering support, help, and some sage advice when needed. From Lizzy’s friends and book club members, to the other firefighters, and to Ryan’s mom and sister they added so much fun and color to an already spectacular story. One thing I have always appreciated about this author is her ability to write what I like to call “real” dialog; dialog most of us use and hear when we are with our friends and family. In Tell Me You Love Me, Ms. Prestsater has done that again as well as given her readers exactly what they expect from her; a sweet, sassy and sexy as hell romance and the start of what promises to be another fantastic series. P.S.—Readers take note this author, through her characters, gives you a list of books she obviously has loved reading which is another reason to love her because she promotes other author’s work within her own!

Lizzy is an amazing girl with a great wit. She had some weight problems and it is putting some weight on her marriage. Anyone can see Jace is a total a** who doesn’t deserve this wonderful woman. I wanted her to leave him, to leave his house, and to finally see herself the way I see her. Abuse comes in different forms, and hers, the emotional one is just a little heartbreaking. It was breaking her spirit, and her esteem. She deserves to be love fully. Good thing she has her friends (Molly, Rachel, & Rose) whom she meets for the book club meeting, and to ogle sexy firemen who come along their way. It was usually the highlight of her week, and of my read. Who doesn’t want a glimpse of these gorgeous and hot fire fighters? What she didn’t expect was to meet the newbie, Ryan, and the sparks that ignite between them. No this is book doesn’t have a ‘cheating’ involve in it, I swear! Or I wouldn’t have loved it. There was some flirty banter every now and then, she might have forgotten to tell him about her civil status – but there was no incidence that she had crossed that line. Her husband might have treated her like trash, but it didn’t occur to her to cheat on him. I wonder when she would finally see herself – on how great and wonderful she is, rather than believe in her husband’s words. When would she finally break it off with him and be with Ryan? It took some time, and some heartbreaking moments before she had finally woke up – but at the expense of her heart. Would she be able to make it up to Ryan after all of this is finished? It’s a fun, easy on the heart and short read. I fully enjoyed this book because of the great, hilarious and real characters. You can easily identify yourself with one of the characters and tell yourself – that’s definitely me! Julie made her characters with flaws, imperfect, and just the usual baggage any one of us can relate too. No unnecessary drama, which I am so thankful for. Tell Me You Love Me tells its readers that no matter what, you have to love yourself and be with the person who loves your imperfections. I can't wait for Molly's story, the epilogue had me excited! yay! •Complimentary Copy was given in exchange for an honest review.• More of my reviews at http://reviewsofabookmaniac.blogspot.com

Liz is a bit overweight according to her husband and he makes sure that his disgust well known. Like I said, JERK! Ryan has just come back to his hometown, and is working at the local firehouse. He and the guys are out on a PT run when they come across Liz and her friends having a “book club” meeting. He is instantly attracted to her and her luscious curves. I wish I could live in this town... The Hill of Death becomes Lizzy and Ryan’s spot; they become fast friends and they have a chemistry that can’t be hidden. It becomes almost unbearable to see them grow their friendship and not act on their feelings. I wanted to shout at them to just say something to each other. Oh, and the epilogue! I did not see that coming at all. I can only hope to get book 2 in my hands ASAP! ~ Devlynn, 5 stars ~~~ All Liz ever wanted was to be loved. Adopted as an infant, she’s felt unwanted since her father passed away. In seeking solace, Liz met and married Jace, but through his cruel comments and actions, Liz is wondering if any of her memories of her once happy marriage are even real. Liz and her “Fired Up Book Club” schedule their bi-weekly outdoor meetings around the fire department’s physical training schedule. The women have been meeting for over a year and have established a fun relationship with several of the firemen. Enter Ryan—the newbie in the fire department. Ryan and Liz become fast friends, but what happens when Ryan learns Liz is married to asshole Jace? I loved this book from page one and couldn’t put it down once I started. I really identified with Liz. What woman hasn’t struggled with her weight? I know I have, but I’m fortunate enough to be loved by a man who could care less how big or small I am—he loves me for me. Ryan is that type of man too—Liz immediately recognizes that and openly flirts with him. Add in the crazy personalities of the rest of the women in the book club and the firemen, and you have one heck of a great book about self-acceptance, forgiveness, unconditional love and kick-ass friendship. Be sure to read through the epilogue—you’re in for a big surprise setting up for book two in the series. ~ Missy, 5 stars.

I had read basically ALL good things about this one, so I was a little disappointed when I only found it okay. It's not a bad book, but it failed to really capture my interest. I completely get that abusive relationships take all forms (e.g. not always physical) and that every person will have a different reaction. So I feel a bit hesitant to say that Liz didn't feel like a woman who was stuck in her marriage and scared to get out. So I feel a bit hesitant to say that Liz didn't feel like a woman who was stuck in her marriage and scared to get out. She felt like someone who knew she was being treated like crap by Jace, who felt like she didn't deserve Jace's vitriol, and yet she stayed with him anyway. I would have liked more examination of why she stayed, because there are definitely valid reasons why she might have, and there are so many mindsets where I could understand why she would, but in this particular book I didn't buy it. So it's clear from the beginning that Lizzy and Ryan are totally into one another, and they spend a ton of time together. Ryan is falling in love, and Lizzy just... doesn't bother telling him she's married. She justifies it by keeping things "platonic". I put platonic in quotations because you can cheat emotionally just as much as you can physically. I mean, I wouldn't blame Lizzy for straying from Jace, because the guy's a total asshat, but let's call a spade a spade. And this is a small thing, but after all of their time together I'm supposed to believe that Lizzy has to ask someone for Ryan's phone number?! It's a small detail, but it stuck out in an odd way. Anyway, the relationship between Liz and Ryan, with how Liz withholds the truth and Ryan runs away, felt very juvenile. I liked the two of them together, but I would have liked it even more under different circumstances.

I don't like the new trend of authors making the heroine 'into books' or the hero having a huge library at his house... that just bugs me. I think it's stupid and overused. This story is NOT like that! Lizzy works at a library, she goes to book club, she fantasizes over book boyfriends, she's one of us!! I really enjoyed the dynamic of her group of friends and their interactions with the hot firemen. Yes, I repeat.. HOT FIREMEN! This book is sweet and easygoing, yet hits its objective spot on. I loved this book! It's a quick, fun read with some angsty parts. I only wished Lizzy would have stuck it to her husband some more! Can't wait for the rest of the series two years to wait is too long!

DNF at 25% I understand that her husband is mean and not nice to her but unfortunately she’s still married! So flirting and going out for coffee with this other guy she’s drooling over doesn’t sit right with me. Maybe she decides to leave her husband eventually in the book but I just don’t like the possibility of the angst.

Sure, I love looking at the half naked men on most covers just as much as anyone else, but I once saw Julie say she wanted something for this book that didn't make it look like it was all about sex, because it's not. You want to read porn, go read Fifty Shades of Grey again. you want a sweet romantic book about true love then pick this up pronto. When we first start off we learn that Liz is married to a very rude person, who cares that he married a size 6 and she no longer is that size? Marrying someone you love doesn't mean you should stop loving them if they gain some weight. That's like throwing away a candy bar because you left it in the sun too long. Who does that? I mean, I love melted chocolate bars. YUM. Liz along with her three best friends have a book club, always meeting at the top of the hill on certain days. The days they meet, you ask? The days the firemen right down the road and ironically have to walk up that hill. Of course the guys have figured out that's why the ladies picked that spot to meet. The friendships they've formed with the ladies is quite funny and very sweet. I feel these guys would do anything to protect the ladies or this particular book club. Unfortunately, Ryan has not learned how very open these ladies are. "What's up, Boss?" I ask Owen, the biggest one of them. I toss a water his way and he drops it. "You know you have the coordination of a teeballer. What's up with that?" Owen is built like The Rock and clumsy as hell. "I can't believe they trust you with a hose." "I can handle my hose just fine, Liz." He winks at me and I can't help but laugh. "If you weren't such a meathead, you might find someone to handle it for you," I tease. "Damn, Liz. I'm starting to get uncomfortable here. You seem to have a fascination with my dick. First you were talking about my hose and now my meat. What's next?" A snicker catches my attention, and that's when I notice him. A new guy. And a hot one at that. "Would you prefer I talk about your cock?" I ask the newbie. It usually takes me a while to adjust to the surroundings of this crew of stunning firemen, but when I do, all bets are off. Call me Tootsie; I'm on a roll now. He clears his throat and shakes his head. "Excuse me?" His eyes go wide. "No. No thank you. I'd prefer to get to know you better before we talk about my...cock" And that is how Ryan meets Lizzy. I love that part of the book. Heck, I love this whole book but that is one of the best first meetings I've ever read about in a book. The chemistry between Lizzy and Ryan is unmistakable, right from the start you can tell they have chemistry. Maybe she'll leave that douchebag husband of hers? One could only hope. When Ryan and Lizzy spend more time together, they both start to grow feelings for the other, there is just one HUGE problem. She's still married. For now. I kept waiting for that moment that Ryan found out about Jace, I knew it wouldn't be good. But maybe that was the push Liz needed? After Ryan finds out, Liz has a moment of clarity and runs Jace over with her car. I know what you're thinking. "REALLY?" No I'm lying, that would be a huge spoiler and I like to keep my reviews as spoiler free as possible. "He. Is. Better-than-any-deliciously-sexy-hot-book-boyfriend. Awesome." When Ryan and Lizzy finally talk things out, she is hounded by her friends. They really only want to know the good stuff. "Yeah, like did you get to handle his hose yet?" Molly asks, fluttering her own brows up and down. To have the answer to that question and any others you may have, you'll have to pick up your own copy of Tell Me You Love Me. I can't give everything away! Julie Prestsater did an amazing job sucking me into the black hole that is her world. I love her writing tons and sometimes stalk her. You should to! No matter what she does, it seems that she will never have the attention from him that she desires. "All I've ever wanted was to be loved , but if this is what love is...I'm not sure I want it anymore." The only thing that gives Lizzy a break from reality is her book club meetings. Sure, they have books that they all read and discuss, but that's not the main reason they get together. Let's just say that as they sit around on the "Hill of Death" gabbing about anything and everything, and they wait to hear the lovely sounds of boots hitting the ground. "If my butthole husband knew what I've been doing, he'd "sh*t twice and die" as Molly Ringwald once put it." Lizzy and her friends have become pretty good friends with a handful of the guys from the local fire station. The guys love them just as much. They stop to see them on their training route, and get handed some cool water from the ladies. But one day something changed. One day a new fireman was introduced to the ladies and Lizzy would never be the same. "His light brown hair looks finger combed back and his hazel eyes could melt my boy shorts off in a split second." Ryan has just come back to town from being part of a hotshot crew in Utah. He never expected that on his first day back, he would come face-to-face with an auburn haired beauty. No matter how much he tries to get closer to her, she always seems to pull away. He wanted to know her better. So, he started meeting up with her on her daily runs on that awful hill. It became "their" thing. But Ryan knows that there is more to Lizzy than her awesome musical taste, and the sass that comes out her mouth. "Lizzy doesn't have that look of being complete. Content. But, she does light up when she sees me. Her smile does reach all the way to her eyes when we talk. That has to mean something." I love the relationship between Lizzy and Ryan! It's so new and innocent...Plus hilarious! They work well together, and I hated that there was this huge "thing" hanging between them. Ya know, a marriage and all:/ "She turns me on like no other woman ever has without even touching me. And yet here she is...standing before me. Taken. Married. Completely hitched. And all I can do is smile." Goodness, I fought for Lizzy and Ryan as much as they fought for themselves! Haha! I wanted her to dump that awful husband, and jump on that sexy fireman;) They both deserved it! Heck, the attraction came right off the pages! *fans self* Gosh, I loved this book sooooo much!! Julie knows how to write a great book that has as much humor as it does swoon-worthy moments! I want to be a part of the "Fire Me Up" Book Club!!! Please?! Can I?! Those women are too funny, and I know I would have a blast:) Every person in this book got my attention and I can't wait until the rest of the series comes out!! Woohoo for more sexy firemen!!!

This book start off about Lizzy… Lizzy is slightly overweight and is in a loveless marriage. And it seems like that has been like that for quite some time. She allows her husband Jace to treat her like crap… Talk down to her… Embarrass her… Call her names… Lizzy friends cans stand her husband Jace. They hate that’s she stays married to him. This book has a set of core friends… Which I absolutely loved!! Molly the oldest in the group.. She’s 40… & widowed. Rachel.. 26 & a kindergarten teacher. Rose… She’s the baby of the group. Justin, Owen, & Jesse are the HOT fireman that meet up with the women mostly on Saturday’s or Sunday’s but sometimes on Fridays… (Their workout schedule) The guys climb the hill of death & the ladies sit right at the half way point & talk about book & wait to look at the fireman…(eye candy) The guys know that the girls are big readers & that they are in a book club.. The fire me up book club. They have been meeting like that for a while. Then Justin friend Ryan get transferred to their station & sparks seem to fly between Lizzy & the new guy. Ryan… He lived in Utah and was part of the hotshot team. He moved back to be closer to his mom and sister. When Ryan first met Lizzy… she made a pretty big impression on him! With her loud mouth!… After their first meeting… Ryan & Lizzy kept bumping into each other… On the hiking trail, store… Little place… They were flirting back & forth got along well with each other… But Lizzy made a really big mistake. Not once did she tell Ryan she was married!! When Jace meets Ryan for the first time… I didn’t feel sorry for Lizzy at all. All I kept thinking was… You should have told Ryan along time ago that you were a married women. What she did was wrong on so many levels. No matter how bad your marriage is… You just don’t string another person along… So when things hit the fan… She had no one to blame but yourself! Plain & simple. She knew Ryan had feelings for her. Ryan doesn’t take the news well. But in the end.. I feel like everything happens for a reason & it all seemed to work out for the both of them. This story was really good. I loved how Ryan & Lizzy came together.. It didn’t feel rushed… It felt just right. I can’t wait to read more about Rose, Molly, Rachel, Owen, Justin, & Jesse!!! Well… I know who the next book will be about…you guys will have to just read the book to find out who it is!! *ARC provided for an honest review* -Michelle

I must say… I’m a big fan of Mrs. Prestsater books! This is the 3rd book I’ve read by her. And she does not disappoint. Tell Me You Love Me is book #1 in the new Fire Me Up Series by Julie Prestsater. Holy HOT FIREMAN! She has an awesome group of neighborhood girlfriends that meet up for their Fire Me Up book club that just so happens to take place the same time the local Fire Department is doing their physical training. How cool is that? Girlfriends, book gossip, and hottie fireman eye candy? BEST.BOOK CLUB. EVER! Sign me up! Ryan has just moved back to town to be closer to his mother. He is a former hotshot firefighter and the newest member of the local fire department. Ryan is the type of hero that restores my faith that there are actually may be good guys out there. Totally swoon worthy. Sigh. I think I have a new book boyfriend ;) Ryan and Lizzy have an instant connection and quickly strike up a friendship. Okay so I am going to stop there. I will admit I was a tiny bit nervous about cheating. And there wasn't. Phew! Moving on. As their friendship grows, words are left unsaid and after an incident with Jace the jerk, Ryan is left hurt and confused. This was a fantastic start to this new series! I enjoyed the humor, all the ladies of the Fire Me Up book club and of course the hottie fireman! I am anxious for the next book. Bring on the next couple. The epilogue at the end was such a tease! 4 Stars! Full posting--> http://herjuicyreads.com/?p=2789

The overall plot to this book was good but the actual detail of bringing everything together wasn’t so paced out to my liking. I get the drama over her being married and of course the hubs is an a** so it’s easy to see where this will lead but all of a sudden her friends say the D word and it takes one more ‘issue’ and she’s over it. I get it take one straw to break the back but if more involvement of their past connected to their unhappy present it wouldn’t seem so instant bc of this firefighter. YES, it wasn’t all happening within a week, time quickly went on which in itself was a problem bc she she’s reeling and being labeled in love and although it’s not early on in the story it’s damn sure early in the non-relationship. They are just friendly. I wouldn’t classify as real good friends yet but their thinking certainly put them in a different category. I really enjoyed the beginning and would have love a little more depth between the intertwining characters. Her husband was vocally terrible and Ryan is just a sweet hot firefighter who loves his mom. I see his side of her relationship also. I get why he wanted to get away. I get why it seemed as though she wasn’t telling the truth. I get a lot of points in this story I just don’t think enough time was given to the points to strength the fall. The good and the bad fall- apart. Now this is suppose to be a on going series about this group of friends and I know I've had this book for a long while and there is still no others in the series. Even though at the end of this it was an ish type of read for me I would at least like to read more bc I'd hope it's a get better as you go kinda series....

I found this book by chance when I was browsing one of the blogs I frequently read. All I read about it was good and praising so it’s the sad truth when I say this was just okay by my standards. Not a bad okay but not a great one either. It’s a really slow progressing romance novel but I liked that it’ not dominated by sexual content that most of them are nowadays. Oh there are sexy times in it but not much and it’s written in a really subtle and kind of conservative fashion. I liked this aspect if the book but not the way the relationship and the progress is dragged out through the whole book. What I really didn’t like is how Lizzy acts. I get that there are different type of abuse and everybody reacts to them in their own way but I felt that Lizzy didn’t stay in the relationship with his abusive husband because she was afraid. Oh no, she knew that how Jace was treating her is not what she deserves and she hated every minute of it but she stayed because she thought no one else will love her and only made the first step to get out when she has a really likely prospect of new partner in Ryan. When their relationship almost was existing and only her being married stood between them. Which was already too late to act and felt like she lied to Ryan? Her personality and her submission to her husband demands clashed for me. Ryan is a great character, if a bit rash sometimes and I liked them together a lot they created a fantastic dynamism between the two of them but I would have liked them more if their relationship happened under different circumstances.

Tell Me You Love Me is Ryan and Lizzy's love story and I want to tell you now that this is a story about building a strong foundation in friendship and following your heart. I read the book in one sitting because I couldn't stop myself from turning the pages. Lizzy is a strong, feisty woman who has curves and great sense of humor. She also has a douche for a husband. Ryan is sexy, smart, and totally enamored by the feisty redhead. With hazel eyes and sandy blonde hair he could be the ultimate California stud. I loved the fact that he has such a connection with his mom and sister and that he isn't afraid to follow his heart. Of course, it isn't all rainbows and unicorns. Love rarely is, you know. Julie Prestater weaves a true-to-life story of romance, love, and a few lies. Can our couple finally get their chance at love? You must read this one. Lizzy's "book club" will keep you laughing in this heartwarming story of finding your second chance and taking it for all it's worth. My recommendation - buy this book and head to the beach. Definitely on the top of my beach read list, especially with the sexy firefighters. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

3.5 Stars This is a sweet, simple read with characters that are easy to relate to and a book club I long to be a part of. In the beginning I was a bit leery of what was to come considering the main character's relationship status and the appearance of a hot fireman who doesn't hide his admiration for her, but, as the story progressed, my worries were put to rest. My favorite part of this book, however, wasn't the love story but rather the book club and the friendships formed within it. I do feel like the story fell a little short in the sense that I felt that it moved too quickly while covering a very long period of time. I liked Ryan and Liz but didn't fall in love with them. I have no doubt that others will be able to fall in love with them and their story though. This probably isn't a book that will stay with me but it's not something I regret reading, and I will absolutely read the other books in the series when they are released. *I received an ARC from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review

Lizzy is a great person who has stayed in a unhappy and unhealthy marriage for far too long. When her father died when she was a junior in high school, she hasn't felt that kind of love since then. Ryan is a wonderful man and he doesn't want a size zero woman. He loves women's curves and he loves for them to love themselves. He's beautiful inside and out. Definitely worth the read.

This was a really great read. It is about Liz "Lizzy" and her journey to realize that she deserves to be happy. I'm not surprised how wonderful this book was because of my love of Julie Prestsater's books and her writing. Lizzy and Ryan's relationship made me swoon. Real Characters The characters in this book are centered around a neighborhood and they are probably some of the most "real" characters I've ever read. I wish I had neighbors like this! Lizzy is very relatable and struggles with weight and insecurity, mostly due to her jerk of a husband. Ryan is an all around nice guy and falls head over heels for her immediately. I enjoyed the talk during book club meetings about some other books and authors (lots of name dropping). I found this through a bloggers top ten LOL romantic comedy list. I had read most of the other books on the list and agreed with the choices so I figured I couldn't lose. So I went in to this with high expectations. Now, don't get me wrong, it was ok but if I lightly chuckled twice that is stretching it. The story was about a woman who finally gets fed up with her abusive husband and leaves him. Then, she finds love again. Great for her, but by no means funny. A quick, fun, hot read filled with good characters and a believable plot. This is pretty much what I expect from Ms Prestsater.
