OMG Yall..Im in looooooooooove!!!!! With Bobby Ray Shaw!!!!!!! Its just not fair that hes in a book and not in my..well you know!!! Julie Morgan you so totally ROCKED this book!!!! Its sweet!!! Its Romantic!!! Its HOT! HOT! HOT! Holy Cow hes freaking amazing!!! Is it his muscles? No. His looks? No (however he is completely HOT!). His bedroom moves? No. Wanna know whats so great about Bobby Ray Shaw? HES SO ROMANTIC and such a gentleman and so sweet and cute!!! I need to stop..I could go on and OMG Y’all…..I’m in looooooooooove!!!!! With Bobby Ray Shaw!!!!!!! It’s just not fair that he’s in a book and not in my…..well you know!!! Julie Morgan you so totally ROCKED this book!!!! It’s sweet!!! It’s Romantic!!! It’s HOT! HOT! HOT! Holy Cow he’s freaking amazing!!! Is it his muscles? No. His looks? No (however he is completely HOT!). His bedroom moves? No. Wanna know what’s so great about Bobby Ray Shaw? HE’S SO ROMANTIC and such a gentleman and so sweet and cute!!! I need to stop…..I could go on and on!!! But I think it’s the fact that he sang Garth Brooks!!!!!!! I yelled OHMYGOD right out to my Kindle when I read that. Y’all know Garth is DaBomb!!!! Bobby Ray Shaw or Robert (as he wants to be called but no one seems to listen) has just finished his third year of college. He spends a lot of his time with his mom and his very political step-dad. They have a great relationship, which is one of the things I enjoyed in this book, the relationships that are sometimes not so good - are in this book. Bobby Ray has a great relationship with his step-dad and his soon to be step-mom. His dad is getting married and he’s coming back home for the wedding and to spend the summer with his dad. He had no idea he’d be meeting…. Lexi is a jumbled mess but you wouldn’t really know it by looking at her. She’s a very strong and caring woman. She lost her dad, her mom is barely hanging on, her farm is ready to be repossessed, her boyfriend constantly cheats on her and she’s had to stop taking the college courses she so enjoyed. Thank goodness she finally told her boyfriend, Blaine, to take a hike! Since Bobby Ray’s in town his cousin planned a big party for him. Once he see’s Lexi it’s all done….I think he fell in love with her at first sight. But when she stripped down to her bra & panties and dived off the cliff yelling “pussy” on the way down.....well it was guaranteed that he had to find out all about this girl. (You notice that I didn’t tell you why she was jumping—you’ll have to read the book to find out!) The back characters in this book are so great!!! Makalya, Abby, Blaine (said with a hateful tone!) and the parents are really great! Julie has a special talent for creating characters with depth and history without pushing the story to the sidelines. You learn about them through the story itself. It’s simply wonderful and creates this world where you just have to jump in and hang on for the ride. I think that’s why I read this book in less than a day. Bobby Ray and Lexi have a long way to go in this book. She’s been cheated on by her first love and has her own family issues to overcome. He’s had his heart broken by his ex-girlfriend and still isn’t completely over it. Even though his family is straightened out now (somewhat) it wasn’t always. Will they find a way to see each other for themselves and not past ex’s? Will they heal each other’s hurts? He’s supposed to go back to school – how will that work? If you haven’t read any of Julie’s work I am here to very HIGHLY recommend this book and her other The Fallen Series which I’ve also read. She is extremely talented and you won’t be sorry. This is definitely a MUST READ!!!! The next installment is City Lights and will be Blaine’s story. I can’t wait to read this one since, I’m sure you’ve noticed, I’m not big fan of his. However, I think his story is gonna be great!!! Go One-Click this one right now y'all!!!!

Well, Julie Morgan has done it again. Southern Roots is an amazing 5 star, Contemporary Romance. I loved every minute of it, and I believe I just may ask Bobby Ray Shaw for his hand in marriage! Southern Roots made my heart beat faster, yet melt at the same time. Julie did a wonderful job making the characters realistic and the story very true to life. Lexi, Bobby Ray, Makayla and Blaine are all extremely realistic and people that you already know and love, in your circle of friends. Bobby Ray and Lexi's story is pure lust and romance, which then turns to love. Lexi is a pleasant surprise in Bobby Ray's busy life. He didn't expect to meet someone over summer break. All he expected was a good time being back home in Texas for his father's wedding. Bobby Ray knew the moment that he laid eyes on Lexi, his heart would no longer be his own. As the summer moved on, he found himself falling head over heels for her. After hearing awful news at a party one night, Bobby Ray left Texas and headed back to Georgia to finish school. The problem is....he couldn't get her off of his mind. There isn't a single thing that Bobby Ray wouldn't do for Lexi. She is his life, his heart, his soul ... his EVERYTHING. He knew what he had to do. He was determined to make things right and make Lexi his. I found myself saying things like "awwww", "oh my gosh", and "hell yeah girl!" out loud. My family just laughs at me, they know when I have found another great book by my reactions. This was again, another one of Julies books that I could not put down. Trust me when I tell you that this woman can write! Julie started off writing Paranormal Romance and has now branched off doing Contemporary Romance. That in itself should show you how talented she is. Not many authors can cross over like she has. PLEASE add Southern Roots to your TBR. It is definitely worth the time in reading. This book is wonderfully amazing and I can't wait to read her next installment in the series titled "City Lights". Happy Reading!!!

Awwwww I want my very own Bobby Ray :D He is so damn sweet, I loved this book. The characters fitted well together and the banter had be laughing. The sexiness mixed with the sweetness makes a perfect book boyfriend in Bobby Ray. I enjoyed seeing the sexual tension between Bobby Ray and Lexi grow, you could see them as a sweet couple. Steamy sex scenes, bad arse ex-boyfriends & trampy friends thrown in makes a fab story that gives you a happy ever after. Loved it, great job Miss Julie <3

**Book provided by author for an honest review** I thought this book was so romantic! When we are introduced to Robert in the beginning of the book, we are immediately filled in on his family drama. He lives in Georgia near his mother and step father, the Senator, and his father and soon-to-be step mother live in Texas, which is where Robert is from. Robert is returning to his home town for his father's wedding to Sabrina. When he returns, we are introduced to his cousin Makayla, who is a pistol! I love her character, and her relationship with Robert! Even though they hadn't seen each other in years, it's like they were never apart. Makayla is how Robert meets Alexis Griffin, aka Lexi. Lexi and Makayla are best friends and when Robert is dragged to a party by Makayla, that is when everything begins to change for Robert. We are taken through a weird relationship development between Robert and Lexi, because they are not dating, they make that very clear, because of the baggage they both carry. Lexi has just split with her cheating boyfriend and Robert is only there for the summer and then has to return to Georgia and Law School. However, they are attracted to each other, and can't stay away from one another, so they are friends, and just hanging out. During their getting-to-know-you phase, they start falling for each other. This is a straight forward romance story, right? NO...here comes Abby, Lexi's other best friend, who is a back stabbing, bitch whore! Abby is in constant destructo mode! Oh, Lexi looks happy, let me go frack it up! We can't have anyone close to me being happy when I'm not! Along with Lexi's selfish ex-boyfriend Blaine, the two stir up a world of shit that threatens to ruin lives, including their own. It was totally exciting and nail biting to find out what was going to happen with the mess that Blaine and Abby had started. The deceit, the cheating, the setup, it was great! The betrayal gave such flavor to the story, and it pulls you in. It's a total chic flick that I would pay to see in the movie theater!

Robert Shaw used to be known as Bobby Ray, but now hes just known as the Senators stepson, and girls get close to him just for that reason. Hes currently living in Georgia with his mom and step-dad and going to law school, but a trip to Texas for the summer for his dads wedding will change his life. Alexis Griffin, or Lexi as her friends and family call her, is having a hard time. Shes dated Blaine for years, but his rock star career is taking off and shes done with his repeated cheating. When Bobby Ray shows back up in town after being gone for years, undeniable sparks fly. Being on the rebound, she doesn’t want anything serious, and Bobby Ray is only offering a summer fling, but will that be enough for either of them? Or will the summer end in heartbreak? Meanwhile, in the background, Blaine is getting fed information from Lexi’s supposed BFF, Abby. He doesn’t like the idea of Lexi moving on from him, even though he has a new girl practically every day, and Abby wants Bobby Ray for herself. Will their scheming and lies ruin everything for the new couple before they even have a chance to find out for themselves? Southern Roots is a great, sweet story of summer love in the South, with a good bit of humor and drama thrown in for good measure. I fell in love with the characters, or well, some of them…at this point Blaine and Abby can sit on it, but Blaine has potential to redeem himself. Here’s to hoping he doesn’t disappoint! Love this author!

4 stars Let me start by saying that I absolutely loved Julie Morgans Fallen Series so when I was given the opportunity to review her newest book and in a different genre I could not pass this up. And I was not disappointed. I loved the story, I loved the characters and I think she has another hit series on her hands. Robert Shaw or Bobby Ray as he is referred to most the book was a perfect southern gentleman. He was not only smart and sexy but like the boy next door who will steal your heart. Bobby Ray and Lexi meet; there is no denying the spark and the pull toward each other is undeniable. They decide to take things slow as they just have the summer together. But sometimes your hearts has a completely different plan. When Lexi’s past shows backup, things get some what complicated. Blaine wants Lexi and will do whatever he has too. Hearts are broken. Can Lexi and Bobby Ray find their way to forgive? Or will they both end the summer with broken hearts? I have a feeling that Blaine is going to steal a piece of my heart in book 2. I am looking forward to this series. Julie you did awesome!

Received an ARC for an honest review Loved it so much! I always have my faith in Julie Morgan's writing. From her paranormal series, Chronicles of the Fallen, she writes a totally different genre for us with Southern Roots. I liked Southern Roots atmosphere, less drama and more romance. Love them country boys!!! I've been a fan of Julie Morgan since I discovered The Fallen series. I was unsure of the transition from fallen angels and demons to southern men and their women. This was the first book i had read by this author. i'm so glad i did i loved this book :D I loved both Lexi and Robert and their chemistry slowly built throughout the story. Lexi is just getting over splitting from her ex Blaine who is a rock star druggie and Robert is supposed to be only back for the summer but upon meeting each other they both realize this is more than a fling. Hot This book is outstanding. The characters are so easy to relate to that it's almost like you know them. You will fall in love with this book and want more. Lexi had just discovered that her rock star boyfriend was cheating on her and broke it off. Neither one of them was looking to start up anything serious. A very sweet story. Julie Morgans first book in the Southern Roots series is a winner. Bobby Ray and Lexi as so perfect, I smiled as I read the story unfold and their playful banter. This couple does have some snags along the way, but their connection pulls them together. They have a love worth fighting for. The story flowed well and I had a hard time putting this one down. Loved this book! This is a new genre for me but since I love this authors other books I gave this a try and can I just say WOW!!! This story focuses on a building romance between Bobby Ray and Lexi. They are an adorable, sweet and well perfect couple. Both have some trust issues when it comes to relationships so will they be able to overcome that and let each other in? This is a definite must read and I can't wait to hear more about Blaine in the second book and Abby in the third.

Sweet read This book is a sweet story, summer romance and some drama. I enjoyed the book for the most part it has potential. I noticed a few errors in editing and a little jumping in storyline but it wasn't enough to be distracting. It was just noticeable. Who doesn't like a good boy re-meets girl they have chemistry and he tries to woo her. Through in some jealous ex and you have the makings of a great story.

Pretty much nothing happened in this book. What did happen was plain boring. I also couldn't get past the way the characters talked - no one talks that way. It was so forced & unnatural. I didn't care about the characters, and they acted like immature high school students. It felt as if this book was written by a high schooler who liked to throw in 4 letter words just because. Book 1 in the Southern Roots series. This is Bobby Ray and Lexis story. I found the pace too slow. There seemed to be a lot of filler about events (taking a horse for a ride involved putting on a pad and then a saddle and then a bridal) or about not particularly interesting conversations. Robert (Bobby Ray) is cooked bacon and eggs by his soon to be stepmom and asks to borrow a car. Those are the kind of details a book doesnt need to drill down to when there is a good story to tell. What is it about Lexi? She has been on/off again with hometown hero Blaine. He has gone off to rock and roll success but he continually cheats on her so she has finally broken it off. Bring home a boy from the city, back to where he was born, add in a girl he hadn't seen since he left, add in a bunch of misunderstandings (where you want to shake the guy by the shoulders until his head wobbles) and a whole bunch of southern and you get this book. Some people will never leave your life, even if they are gone for a long while. You know you will see them again, just not when or how.
