2.5 stars. For what it was, it was pleasant and informative enough. But I felt that it actually could have been the outline to creating a wonderful book. I would have liked a more in depth discussion of many of the points, especially those that are of particular importance to writing historical fiction. More on research, more on atmosphere and creating a believable time and place, and such. I did enjoy her list of questions one needs to consider in choosing to write a historical tale. It 2.5 stars. It presented issues I might not have thought out clearly to begin with. Also the author's thoughts on choosing a time period to set your story and using historical figures in your story was very helpful.

Fantastic little primer for those starting their journey down the historical fiction writing road, and great reminders for those who have been writing in the genre for years.

Very specific info Ms. Hunt provides many specific resources and examples of writhing historical fiction. No one book can cover the whole topic. This book is a great start.
