Out of the Shadows Slow start with an exciting finish. Sassy and spunky heroine and a hunky, ill tempered, misunderstood hero. Great secondary characters (especially Vincent) and the storyline is straightforward. Looking forward to see what the gulf packs have in store.   Happy Reading Everyone!!!

A story of good shifters escaping and challenging bad shifters, a romance with the usual challenges and family dynamics. Interesting but a bit violent for my tastes. If you enjoy shifter romance with good and evil you will enjoy this book.

I really enjoyed this book. At first I felt like the story (love story) was taking too long to form, but when it finally did, the book went from 3 stars straight to 4. If your like me, you love shifter romances because of the whole yummy "mine" things the alphas do. It's kind of like you are guaranteed a happy ending, in one way or another, and after some of the books I read, I definitely need it. I liked this book because the trouble was "after" them and not between them. There were no lies or crazyness, just a pure, sweet romance between these two. They experience the whole I hate you/I like you thing until they finally can't take it and it is SUPER HOT. I love the story line around them, taking the bad alpha out and setting wrongs to rights within the packs. I loved how it ended, the bad guy still out there and looking to cause trouble for the next couple coming up. The only thing that bothered me was I felt like some of the story was mixed up. Like literally a section should have been like a chapter ago instead of the chapter it was in. For instance, there's the part where Devon is taking Lark to see his house and she falls in the woods...blah blah blah...sexy shower scene...blah blah blah, the next day she wears her yellow dress and they go on their first date and then go home. When they get home, Devon goes into a meeting with Gene and when he comes out he sees Lark in the bathroom with a boo boo on her knee bleeding. When he asks about it she says she didn't realize her fall in the woods had caused her to bleed. Then they cue shower sex again, but are taking off their work out clothes? That's all from their first night I thought. Their outfits they wore out to dinner were totally different..... Anywho, do recommend and can't wait for Talia and Gene!

Out of the Shadows I enjoyed reading this book. Werewolves and regular folks band together to fight a growing menace threatening the women of the group. I did not like the abrupt ending designed to force me onto the next book. If this is not an issue for you it's a nice easy read.

This book has been sitting on my kindle for a couple of months now and had it not been for the prequel novella 'Forbidden Hope' I most likely would never have actually got round to reading it. This book picks up where 'Forbidden' closed, well to be exact there's a slight overlap but it starts with Devon, Emily and Vincent arriving at Uncle Ricks seeking sanctuary. Apart from this its a good interesting read and everything is in place for this to be a really good series.

I enjoyed the ebb and flow of Lark and Devon's relationship. Their "oil and water" personalites made for a great tease on what would happen next, and what would ultimately become of this fiesty duo. I like the simplicity, but yet complex dynamics of the werewolves and their politics. I appreciate the fact that this book concentrated on werewolves, and it didn't require any other "paranormal" elements. If you're a fan of paranormal romances, then I suggest this book. I love Ms. Shaws writing style. It's grabs a hold of you and flows like water with occasional surprise twist and turns. Her stories are without a doubt written from her heart. Her characters are well developed full characters. Devon and Lark are a great couple and fun. Their I hate you, I love you relationship growing pains are funny and endearing. The sex is HOT. This is really a great start to a new series. Loved it !!! Thanks for allowing me to ARC for you once again.

This was a great book that got me out of my reading funk. However, I would like to note that there are some small grammar errors throughout. If this is something that would drive you nuts, wait for the updated version to be uploaded. If you can read past it, than you'll like the book.

I downloaded Out of the Shadows as a free book from Amazon. I enjoyed this UF story, which followed traditional tropes--so no real surprises. Shaw did a wonderful job with world-building and creating likeable characters. Nicely plotted and well-paced. A few areas could have been clearer or expanded, but a good read.

Suspense and Terror This was a deeply intense book. There is a lot going on and the story is full of intrigue, so much do that I could not put it down. I loved the way the characters are developed and each chapter gave a little more insight into them. I can tell this will be a very interesting series and can't wait to read thge next book.

I agree that this book was slow to start, but I did keep reading it because the story was interesting. Although it was slow at first I did like the writing style. I don't read really long books often because I get bored unless its a favorite author. Bethany Shaw is new to me. Devon and his 3 siblings and a friend steal away in the night to prevent his younger sister from being a pawn/breeder to some pack their father traded her to. Devon and his 3 siblings and a friend steal away in the night to prevent his younger sister from being a pawn/breeder to some pack their father traded her to. Now, Devon is technically their step-sibling but he's an alpha and wants to protect them. They flee to his trusted Uncle Ricks home which he readily accepts them to protect them as well. Enter Lark who is like a daughter to Rick and she runs a bakery in town. She knows they are wolves and has been family since she was a kid. She's very strong and independent and has made the ultimate sacrifice when her parents died and she's taken the role of parent to her little sister Sarah. She's sweet and a really good person. Devon's had a lot to deal with in life. Always treated poorly because he's the step-son. He was abused and although his mom tried to protect him...she couldnt always. He doesnt trust easy and although drawn to Lark...he keeps her at arms length and acts like a total jerk to her mostly. Devon isn't sweet and he doesnt necessarily try to be. I dont think he knows how...not really. His character sorta lacked development because I wasnt sure I believed he loved her or not. He was so against having anything with her it seemed hard to believe he had a change of heart so fast. Not that he didnt care about her he did. Just the "feelings" part I had trouble buying. So much sexual tension and glares between those 2. They dont do much beyond a couple kisses til much later in the book. This really moved slow until about middle when the attacks started to happen. Someone beloved meets a horrible end. Kidnappings and butt kicks happen. It doesnt end on a cliffhanger but its obvious its an ongoing series into the next book. I think I would have liked to have more romance between Lark and Devon, but alas this was more around the conflict and didnt focus on them as a couple. It should have a little because it seemed to abrupt at the end. Anyways, as a whole book I liked it. Although I enjoyed the book I dont think it holds my interest enough to continue...I'm still on the fence about it. I'll tell you though she had me guessing about Daniel til the end and even now I am not sure lol. Daniel being the actual son to his step-father Emmett. I think he feared his father too much to really disobey much. He sure came through in the end at least so far.

Rating 3.5/5 stars This was a very spontaneous read. I won one of the mini challenges during the COYER read-a-thon in and March and received an awesome gift card from Keisha. We were chatting and since I won the gift card from her I asked her to recommend a 5 star book that she has read. This has been my new way to discover new books lately. A few days later I received Out of the Shadows via the Kindle Loan option. Out of the shadows is an enjoyable read. There are some great unique elements to the story but also a lot of predictability. Werewolf books can sometimes be a hit and miss for me but this was not the case with Out of the Shadows. For anyone for who loves a good werewolf novel and a broody alpha male mixed with romance - this book is for you! Characters & Story line: 3.5/5 Bethany creates good strong characters. The story line is interesting and takes you on a few emotional twists and turns. Lark and Devon's romance was a bit predictable. Devon being the strong, brooding, wounded alpha with some issues - who keeps people at bay and Lark who is strong, compassionate and challenges him. They have a steamy and unexplainable attraction with a few steamy scenes. They definitely grow on you as the story progresses - by the last half of the book I was definitely rooting for them. Emily and Marcus are such a sweet couple and you are rooting for them from the beginning. Vincent is one of my favourite characters - he is your lone wolf, flirty, younger (brother) wolf. He is observant, caring, cheeky and entertaining. Gene is a great character in the book. He is kind and strong. He plays a stronger part in the latter part of the book and I am really looking forward to his role in 'Into the Unknown'. Plot, Pace, Writing style: 3.5/5 Bethany has a great pace and a nice writing style. The plot was intriguing and kept you reading to see what happens next - even though the predictability did slow things down a bit for me. The ending left quite a bit to work with in the next book. Cover talk: 3/5 The cover was OK. Once I had read the book I appreciated the cover a little bit better. Final Thoughts: Although I am not immediately one-clicking to buy the next sequel I am really intrigued to see Gene & Talia's story, as well as what the Gulf packs have planned for Lark and Sarah.
