Wholehearted

Availability: Ready to download

Healing, respect, and empathy are what the H&S Ranch promises when helping troubled juveniles. Madison Clark hasn’t had much trouble in allowing teens to help care for her recovering horses. But then in walks Jake, a know-it-all thirteen-year-old with a smart mouth and a strong penchant for trouble. What’s worse is what’s behind him—his uptight, opinionated lawyer aunt, Gr Healing, respect, and empathy are what the H&S Ranch promises when helping troubled juveniles. Madison Clark hasn’t had much trouble in allowing teens to help care for her recovering horses. But then in walks Jake, a know-it-all thirteen-year-old with a smart mouth and a strong penchant for trouble. What’s worse is what’s behind him—his uptight, opinionated lawyer aunt, Grace Hollings. Madison does her best to ignore her, but focusing solely on Jake isn’t always possible. Grace Hollings is convinced nothing can help her nephew, especially Madison Clark and her feel-good horse ranch. Unfortunately, Jake’s presence there is court ordered so Grace does her best to keep an eye on him, and on Madison, who is way more than she originally gave her credit for. Her calm strength and good looks are powerful and just the tip of the iceberg, leaving Grace green with jealousy. Not just because Jake is thriving and has taken to Madison over her, but because Grace is beginning to be taken by the ranch owner as well… Wholeheartedly so.

The story had a great premise and started out really well but the eroticism between the characters was very "flat" and while I like Madison and Jake, I didn't care for Grace. I never really got around to liking her and felt like their love story lacked real conflict. Too much "telling" me what was going on in the bedroom and the sexual tension between the two ladies was not as strong when they finally got together as it was in the bathroom scene of their first date. Found myself skimming through the sexual dialogue of sounds and repeated names uttered in climax during the rather short sex scenes.

First book I've read by this author and I loved it. The heat between Madision and Grace was immediate from their first meeting. Grace is a workaholic and jas taken in her nephew who has lots of issues. He goes to a ranch to help him and ends up getting along with Madison. The sparks fly between the two and I loved the banter and wit between them. It all seemed to happen pretty quick which didn't seem all that realistic but otherwise I very much enjoyed it

After reading an awfully written novel I came across this book and reading it was very refreshing. I love the characters especially the relationship between Madison and Jake. I liked the dialogues as well. In all the book was worth it.

A love story playing on very conventional tropes. City-girl vs Ranch-girl, the instant sparks and misunderstanding, the convenient blind date, etc..., etc.... No surprises, but still ok for a bubble bath.

This was just not a very good book. other than Madison, the characters were not easy to like, the romance just seemed silly and the whole hospital scene was almost unreadable it was so unrealistic. as with other books by this author the plot was overly complicated. she should focus on a simpler plot and better character development. she doesn't have the writing chops to pull of a more complex plot. There is some talent but this author desperately needs a stronger editor.

Great premise for a story but not the best from Ronica Black.
